Wearable Technological Devices that are Fashionable 6.

Pauline van Dongen’s Solar Wear dress

Van Dongen launched her womenswear label, which specialises in combining style and technology, in 2010. Her Wearable Solar assortment consists of a dress that incorporates 72 versatile solar panels as properly as a coat that has 48 rigid crystalline solar cells.

“The 2 prototypes have a modular element the place you can reveal the solar panels when the sun shines but you can also hide them and put on them close to your physique,”she explains. “When you put on them in full sun for 1 hour they can produce sufficient energy to charge your standard smartphone 50 %.”

Wearable Technological Devices that are Fashionable Part 5

Tan's Reality Mediators

These wearable devices by designer Ling Tan cause unpleasant sensations when the wearer becomes inactive or stops concentrating.

Tan's Reality Mediators project hooks up wearable sensors that detect muscle movements, brainwave activity and GPS location with four different devices that cause discomfort to the body. If the wearer stops moving or has a lull in mental activity for too long they will experience either an electric shock, an unpleasant sound, intense heat or irritating vibration.

video tatoos

It will soon be possible to have electronic displays printed on thin plastic membranes, just like the ones you use for temporary tattoos that you put on your skin.
With them you could turn your whole forearm into a computer display. Anyone with ordinary tattoos will wish they’d waited a while.
You will also be able to get electronic makeup.
You would just wipe it all over your face and then touch it to, and it will instantly become whatever you want.
You will be able to change your appearance several times a day depending on your mood.

helping hand for fire fighters

The Grantham MechVentTM

The Grantham MechVentTM is a mechanical firefighting tool which reduces the possibility of flashover, the most dangerous time of a fire when temperatures reach about 1200°F degrees. It's a mechanical ventilator that when mounted to the top end of the fire truck ladder, it breaks through the window, and automatically positions itself at a certain angle through the window inside the room. It reduces the chances of flashover by removing built-up heat and smoke. It also allows the remote dousing of the flames with water when necessary.
Delaying flash over inside a burning room, can be critical to saving lives as well as for the safety of the firemen.
Rather than sending firefighters into a burning structure to assess whether flashover is imminent, the Grantham MechVentTM allows firefighters to remotely prepare the environment in the compartment without endangering firefighter's lives, where normally they would have to physically go inside the building and face life threatening conditions.
Where existing methods to ventilate a burning compartment require firefighters to go inside and use a fan to blow air into the structure and push the heat and smoke outside; the Grantham MechVentTM pulls superheated air and smoke from inside the burning structure, out the window, clearing the room within minutes.
Currently, existing methods require firefighters to physically carry and use portable water-based fire extinguishers into the unit to try to prevent flashover. When needed, the Grantham MechVentTM can be attached to the firemen's hose at the window, and utilizes a minimum amount of water, just 9 gallons at 10 second intervals, to strategically douse the flames directly with a sprinkler flow, and/or the fog nozzle feature can be used, which can also utilize foam or other fire suppression materials, to create a safe zone for firemen inside.
Finally, the Grantham MechVentTM facilitates the escape of firefighters or victims trapped inside the burning structure, by helping them position themselves properly to slide down the fire truck ladder, face first.
When flashover is delayed or prevented, then firefighters can more safely go into the building, to rescue victims and finish putting out the fire.

Grantham MechVentTM Features and Benefits:

reduces injury to humans at the scene
reducing property damage
reduces the spread of fire within the burning structure
reduces the spread of fire to adjacent exposures
facilitates escape by people trapped inside the burning structure
the tool can be remotely positioned at a window

Geeks, it's the World's Cup!

It's the WOOOOOOOOOOOORLD CUP my beautiful geeks and what a week it's been!

It was last week that we got to seee what the fiasco and hulla balloo of the goal line technology. France and Honduras were playing against each other in the match in Brazil on Sunday when Karim Benzema, a French player (#10) scored a goal.

Here's the catch though: the ball hit the goal post at first and it was declared no goal, thanks to the to goal line technology.

However, seconds later the ball passed the goal line and the Honduras goal keeper and it went passed the line as seen in the photo below. The referee was sent a 'signal' to indicate that it was a goal and France got a goal!

That was the first time in the entire history of World Cup that technology was seen properly.

jogging in trend

As much as we’d love to take a brisk morning jog while the a.m. fog keeps us nice and cool, sometimes we hit snooze a little too often. So, when a moonlit jog is on the agenda, and that lunar beam isn’t doing the trick, brighten up your track with this clip-on cap light by Amphipod. Fasten it to your favorite ball cap, choose between flashing lights or a constant ray, and set your sights on hitting those goals — not parking signs.

GAMING DEVICES.
In the history of video games, the seventh generation includes consoles released since late the year 2005 by Nintendo, Microsoft, and Sony. For home consoles, the seventh generation began on 22 November the year 2005 with the release of Xbox 360 and continued with the release of PlayStation 3 on 17 November 2006, and Wii on 19 November the year 2006. Each new console introduced a new type of breakthrough in technology.
The Xbox 360 offered games rendered at HD resolutions, the PlayStation 3 offered HD movie playback through a built-in 3D Blu-ray Disc player, and Wii focused on integrating controllers with movement sensors as well as joysticks.
Joining Nintendo in the motion market, Sony released the PlayStation Move in September the year 2010. The PlayStation Move featured motion sensing gaming, similar to that of the Wii. Microsoft also joined the scene in November 2010, with its Kinect,Unlike the other two systems (PlayStation 3 and Wii), Kinect does not use controllers of any sort and makes the users the "controller." Having sold 8 million units in its first 60 days on the market, Kinect has claimed the Guinness World Record of being the "fastest selling consumer electronics device" While the Xbox 360 offers wired controllers as a standalone product, all PlayStation 3 controllers can be used in wired and wireless configurations. Starting with handheld consoles, the seventh generation began on 21 November 2004 with the North American introduction of the Nintendo DS as a "third pillar", alongside Nintendo's existing Game Boy Advance and GameCube consoles. The Nintendo DS features a touch screen and built-in microphone, and supports wireless internet (Wi-Fi) standards. Additionally, the revised version of the Nintendo DS, the DSi, features two built in cameras, the ability to download games from the DSi store, and a web browser. The PlayStation Portable, or PSP, released later the same year on 12 December 2004, followed a different pattern. It became the first handheld video game console to use an optical disc format, Universal Media Disc, as its primary storage media.Sony also gave the PSP robust multi-media capability, connectivity with the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 2 (only on some games) and other PSPs, and Internet connectivity. The Nintendo DS likewise has connectivity to the internet through the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection and Nintendo DS Browser, as well as wireless connectivity to other DS systems and Wii consoles. Despite high sales numbers for both consoles, PlayStation Portable sales have consistently lagged behind those of the Nintendo DS; nevertheless, the PlayStation Portable has the distinction of being the best-selling non-Nintendo handheld gamin.
With technology growing,we are expecting more gaming devices that are going to be better.

wrist band that makes transactions

A wristband that allows you to make payments

Barclays, the British multinational banking and financial services company, is offering a wristband that people can use for contactless payments

A wristband that allows wearers to pay with just a tap is being launched in the UK. Barclays, the British multinational banking and financial services company, is offering a wristband that people can use for contactless payments. The bank's Barclaycard division plans to roll out its bPay band at sponsored events this year ahead of a wider launch in 2015.

The device uses the contactless payment technology used in Barclays' credit and debit cards, which lets users make payments by scanning them against terminals, the Telegraph reported.

A user can add money to their bPay band using their Visa or MasterCard credit or debit card. The money can then be spent on small purchases up to a single transaction value of 20 pounds (around $34) by swiping the bands over a terminal.

Barclaycard plans to make the bands free of charge and will allow them to be used by the majority of UK card users, not just its own customers.

"The money or information you need for every stage through the day will be integrated into a single device like bPay band — from your travel card to your gym membership to your lunch money," the Barclaycard website says.
